Brief HistoryEdit

The Kingdom of Hawaii became a United States protectorate in 1898 and remained a part of America through WWII. However, in the post war anti-Colonial movement, a referendum was held and independence was chosen instead of statehood. Queen Liliuokalani's line was elected to the throne at this point in a restoration.

During the years of US administration, Hawaii because a key Pacific trade hub, America's answer to British Singapore and Hong Kong. In the 1960s, after independence, massive offshore oil fields were discovered in Hawaii's Pacific claims and surrounding waters, making Hawaii one of the wealthiest nations on Earth per capita.

Monarchy - Monarch is elected for a term of life or until retirement/incapacitation. Previous monarch often elevates a supported heir, but it is not a guarantee they will be elected.

Business interests are strong in Hawaii leading to corruption and allegations outside powers, particularly the United States (still maintaining Pearl Harbor Naval Base) and Japan cast undue influence on the Monarchical elections.

There is an elected assembly house to advise the Monarch, but he/she may do as they desire. The monarch has day to day control over the armed forces and government.
